The navigator of the 73rd Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment, Captain Kutsenko, died in an air battle that took place on May 19, 1943, near the current burial place. The Soviet “ Yaks ” and German “ Messerschmitts ” took part in this battle. Kutsenko’s plane was shot down and crashed in the vicinity of the Lidievka mine and went underground to a depth of about two meters.

This area was at that time occupied by German troops . The local command decided that a German plane had been shot down and sent locals to dig it out. Excavations stopped after finding out that the plane was Soviet.

In the post-war period, the remains of the aircraft were discovered when laying a telephone cable. Among the remains were a machine gun barrel, a gun barrel, an engine, and cartridges.

The locals who participated in the first excavations handed over to the party committee a tablet of Nikolai Evdokimovich Kutsenko, which they secretly took from the Germans from the excavation.

The ceremonial reburial of the remains of the pilot took place on the Alley of Heroes by the forces of the workers of the Kirov region of Donetsk . An obelisk with a red five-pointed star on top was placed on his grave. Earlier, an airplane model was also attached to the obelisk. At present, it has not been preserved, only the mount remains.

In addition to the monument to Kutsenko, in the Heroes Alley, monuments were also erected in memory of the revolutionary events of 1905-1907 in the mines of the Lidievsky mines; Commander of the food detachment Comrade Galunov brutally murdered with his fists in 1920; Lidiev warriors who fell in battles for their homeland in 1941-1945.
