Biography
The son of an Italian teacher who taught at the Theresian Academy . During the leadership of the string quartet, Prince Lichnovsky taught the violin to play Ludwig van Beethoven , with whom he maintained friendly relations until his death in 1827 , in Vienna .
In 1804, Ignaz Schuppanzig founded his own quartet, which in different years was played by Joseph Meisader , Franz Weiss , Peter Hansel , Anton Kraft and Emanuel Allois Förster , in 1808 Joseph Linke was also accepted into the quartet as a cellist and in 1823 - Karl Holtz as second fiddle. The Ignaz Schuppanzig Quartet was known as the best string quartet in Europe and as the first professional string quartet. From 1808 to 1816, the Schuppantsig quartet was kept by the Russian prince and philanthropist Andrei Razumovsky . Also, it was Schuppanzig’s string quartet that was the first to perform many of Ludwig van Beethoven ’s last quartets .
Franz Schubert dedicated the Rosamunde Quartett to Ignaz Schuppanzig. Since 1795, Ignaz Schuppanzig performed as a conductor at concerts in the castle of Augarten .
