Content
History
Formed on February 5, 1943 by re - forming the Trans-Baikal division of the NKVD troops . It consisted of the 188th Argunsky, the 236th Nerchinsky, the 43rd Daursky infantry regiments and the 362nd Trans-Baikal artillery regiment.
The division took part in the battles of Kursk and defeated the 106th Wehrmacht division . For crossing the Dnieper in October 1943 in the area of Loyev awarded the honorary title "Dnieper". Continuing the offensive, the division liberated the Gomel and Polesye regions of Belarus. In February 1944 she became a member of the 1st Ukrainian Front and took part in the battles on the Rivne area. By decree of August 9, 1944, she was awarded the Order of the Red Banner. In 1945, it passed the way of the Vistula - Oder - Neisse - Elba. For mastering the city of Dresden, the division was awarded the Order of Suvorov, 2nd degree.
About 12 thousand officers and soldiers of the division were awarded orders and medals, 49 soldiers were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
Disbanded in 1945 in connection with the end of the Second World War.
