A constitutional referendum in Venezuela was held on February 15, 2009 . [1] The referendum was to amend the constitution, abolishing restrictions on the re-election of officials of all ranks - the president , governors, mayors and deputies. Previously, you could be elected within no more than two terms. The referendum amended articles 160, 162, 174, 192 and 230 of the 1999 Constitution . The proposed amendment was confirmed by 54.85% of voters. [2] [3]
