1929 European Ice Hockey Championship

The 14th European Ice Hockey Championships under the auspices of the LIHG took place from January 30 to February 3, 1929 in Budapest ( Hungary ). Initially, nine teams were supposed to take part in the championship, but the Finnish team did not play in this tournament as a result. In this regard, the Austrians proposed to change the format of the championship, but this proposal was rejected. The competition was held in the same way as in 1926 . All teams are divided into three groups, the first place in each group automatically goes to the semifinal, and between the second places an additional circle of games passes and the fourth participant of the semifinal is revealed [1] . For the first time at the European Championships, a match for third place was held. Also for the first time the tournament was held in three periods.
