Remote I / O System

A remote I / O system is a tool with which you can create a highly developed scalable control system.

Usually it consists of a communication unit, as well as additional input / output modules connected to it (but there are options where the communication part and input / output are combined in one housing).

The main advantages of such a system: the ability to reduce the number of cables, this is especially effective if there are a lot of input / output signals, and the distance from the industrial controller to the sensors and actuators is significant. In addition, remote I / O modules allow you to organize data collection in a personal computer, without intermediate collection on an industrial controller.

Schneider Electric offers a wide range of remote I / O. These are Advantys OTB and STB.

Advantys OTB - remote I / O, the communication part of which can be selected for operation in Modbus ( RS-485 ), CANopen , Ethernet networks . Each communication module has 12 inputs and 8 outputs. In addition, 7 modules from the Twido industrial controller can be connected to it.

Advantys STB can work in Ethernet , Modbus Plus, CANopen , Fipio, Profibus DP, DeviceNet , InterBus networks. Unlike the OTB series, the STB series is a set of unique modules with additional features.
