The son of violinist Karl Friedrich Müller and one of the four brothers who made up the second generation of the famous Müller Brothers Quartet , performing together in 1855 - 1873 . He is also known as the cellist of the no less famous Quartet Joseph Joachim , in whose composition he played in 1869 - 1879 . In 1873 - 1876 he taught at the Berlin Higher School of Music , where among his students were, in particular, Robert Housman (immediately after Müller left, who replaced him in a teaching post, and three years later in the Joachim Quartet), Leo Schulz , Eugen Zandov .
Since 1879 he lived and worked in New York, where his very first performance caused an enthusiastic response from the New York Times [1] .
