The culture of La Candelaria or Candelaria existed in the period of about 200-1000 years. n er in the central-southern Andean part of the Argentine province of Salta , as well as in the central-northern part of the province of Tucuman in the so-called "western selva". The name received from the department of La Candelaria in the province of Salta , where its first monuments were discovered.

Ceramics are usually gray in color with simple lines and geometric figures such as rectangles and triangles, conventionally conveying figures of people and animals. They also made wind musical instruments in the form of animals.

Dwellings had a round base. Stones, driven into the soil, served as the foundation, and the dwellings themselves were constructed from short-lived materials.

Candelaria culture cultivated lamas, which were used for food and other purposes. Corn seems to have been a staple crop.
