Nosology

Nosology ( dr. Greek νόσος “disease” + λόγο слово “word, doctrine”) is a doctrine of diseases that allows us to solve the main task of private pathology and clinical medicine : knowledge of the structural and functional relationships in pathology, biological and medical foundations of diseases. It includes the etiology and pathogenesis. Nosology answers the questions of what the disease is and how it differs from health, what are the causes and mechanisms of the development of the disease, recovery or death. [one]

Health is the state of the body in which, first of all, the correspondence of structure and function is noted, as well as the ability of regulatory systems to maintain homeostasis. [2]

A disease is a complex, predominantly adaptive reaction of the body in response to the action of a pathogenic agent resulting from a disruption in the interaction between the body and the environment, and accompanied by a decrease in the productivity and economic value of the body. [2]

The following teachings and concepts comprise nosology:

  • Etiology - the doctrine of the causes and conditions of the disease;
  • Pathogenesis - the doctrine of the mechanisms of the onset and development of the disease, recovery and dying;
  • Pathomorphogenesis - morphological changes that occur with the development of diseases;
  • Pathomorphosis - the doctrine of the variability of diseases under the influence of various factors;
