Friedlovsky, Joseph

Joseph Friedlowski ( German: Joseph Friedlowsky ; July 11, 1777 - January 14, 1859 , Vienna ) is an Austrian clarinetist of Czech origin.

He played the clarinet at the Prague Opera. Since 1802 , in Vienna, at the An der Vin Theater. Later, the first professor of clarinet at the Vienna Conservatory , since 1822 , clarinet player of the court chapel.

Friedlovsky was a close friend of Ludwig van Beethoven - it is believed that Beethoven consulted with him regarding clarinet parts in his writings [1] [2] . Fridlovsky also arranged for the bassethorn the Beethoven Sonata for horn and piano Op. 17 [3] .
