Endemic to Ethiopia . It lives in mountain lakes and streams. The nest is lined with grass, in which it lays 6-7 eggs. Able to swim and fly well, but prefers to spend most of his time on the ground. With the exception of the nesting season, blue-winged geese live in packs.
The body length of the blue-winged goose is 60–75 cm. The plumage is grayish-brown with a lighter head and neck. The beak is small black, the legs are also black. In flight, a goose is recognized by its light blue wings. Male and female have the same color of plumage, young birds are painted more dimly.
The sight cry is a quiet whistle. Grazes in meadows and clearings, mainly at night, sometimes during the day.
