History
The Admirals were admitted to the AHL as a result of the league expansion in the 2000–2001 season. Norfolk Edmirals acquired its name from the Milwaukee Edmirals team as a result of the disbandment of the IHL . The Admirals has two mascots: a dog named Salti and a hybrid of a dog and a rabbit named Hat Trick. Until 2007, Norfolk Edimrals was the Chicago Blackhawks farm club, and on March 29, 2007, Tampa Bay Lightning officially announced Edmirals as its new farm club.
In the 2011/2012 season, the team managed to win the Calder Cup for the first time, winning the final series against the Toronto Marlies 4-0. It is worth noting that in the final of the conference, the Admirals confidently won the series against St. Johns IceCaps , also with a score of 4: 0.
On June 21, 2012, Anaheim Ducks on its website officially announced the signing of long-term cooperation between the clubs, starting from the 2012/2013 season. [one]
At the end of the 2016 / 17ECHL season, Nashville terminated the contract with the Cincinnati Cyclones and announced it as its farm club at ECHL Norfolk.
