Education
In 1984, Wilson graduated from high school ( Taconic High School ) in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Since 1984, Wilson has studied at Harvard University in Cambridge . In 1988 she received a bachelor's degree in technical sciences. In 1992, at the University of Texas, Wilson received a master's degree in aviation and space technology.
Work
After graduation, Wilson worked for two years at the Martin Marietta Astronautics Group in Denver , Colorado (since 1995, the corporation is called Lockheed Martin ). Since 1990, she worked at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California . Conducted research on the control and modeling of large flexible space structures.
Astronaut Selection
Stephanie Wilson was admitted to the NASA astronaut group in April 1996 . From August 1996 she began training for space flight as a flight specialist. In 1998, she received the title of astronaut. After that, Wilson worked in the department of rocket engines.
At NASA
In December 2002, Wilson was assigned to the crew of Discovery STS-120. This flight was supposed in February 2004 . Discovery was supposed to deliver a connecting module 2 to the ISS (Node 2). After the disaster of "Columbia" this flight was postponed to a later date. In November 2004, Stephanie Wilson was enlisted in the crew of Discovery STS-121 , which started on July 4, 2006 .
She participated in three space missions as a mission specialist. From 4 to 16 July 2006 - the mission of STS-121 , from 23 October to 7 November 2007 - STS-120 and from 5 to 20 April 2010 - STS-131 .
