Sports career

I came to biathlon at the age of 10, before that I was engaged in skiing. In 2004 she became a member of the national team. In 2005, she first performed at international competitions. At the World Junior Championship 2006, she won the individual girls' race (10 km). In the 2006-2007 season she appeared at the World Cup competitions. In the 2007-2008 season, for the first time hit the top thirty, taking 14th place in the individual race. At the World Junior Championships , held in 2008 in Ruhpolding , she became the second in the pursuit.

In the 2008/2009 season , it took ten more places in the number of now forty best receiving points, showing the best result in the cup career - 5th place in the individual race at the World Championships in Korean Pyeongchang . At the 2009 Junior World Championships in Kenmore, she won the baton and became second in the pursuit. As a result of the 2008/2009 season, she was selected as the best Czech biathlete [1] .

In the summer of 2009 she suffered a disease that disrupted the training process, which led to an unsuccessful performance at the stages of the 2009/2010 World Cup .

At the Winter Olympics in Korea , in the first sprint race, Veronica took an honorable third place and became the bronze medalist of the Games. This is the first Olympic medal in personal competitions for a Czech athlete. [2]
