There was only one change in the ranks of the capmen - on the private March of the Antique Automobiles Racing team, Ronnie Peterson made his debut. The first row of the starting field was won by Jackie Stewart and Chris Amon. In the race, Stuart was in the lead until lap 27, when a malfunction in the ignition forced him to give the lead to Jack Brabham. In turn, the Australian on the last lap of the race braked too late in one of the turns and hit the fence of the track, which allowed Jochen Rindt, who was coming next, to defeat. The third comer Henri Pescarolo won his only career podium.
