Biography
Johann succeeded his father in 1332. Frederick was able to expand the ownership of the Franconian Hohenzollerns. In 1338, the Duke of Otto VII of the Orlamunde clan, Johann laid down his castle of Plassenburg in the city of Kulmbach , the city of Kulmbach itself, as well as some nearby settlements. After death in 1340, Otto VII, who did not leave a male heir, these lands were transferred to Johann by agreement.
During the reign of Johann in Nuremberg there was an epidemic of plague , which claimed the lives of many citizens. At the same time, Jewish pogroms took place in the city, as the Jews were accused of the perpetrators of this misfortune. John made no attempt to protect the latter.
