Four explosions occurred almost simultaneously in different parts of the city at around 6:00 pm local time (11:00 UTC), followed by several big explosions over the next 90 minutes. After midnight two more explosions occurred. A total of eight explosions were reported during the New Year's Eve.

On January 1, 2007, three people were found dead and more than 38 wounded. [1] Another bomb was used in the cinema, but in order to avoid total panic, the authorities chose to report it later. The next morning, a bomb exploded in a mosque in Chiang Mai , the largest city in northern Thailand.
