Punwonni in Gwangju is one of the centers of ceramic production in the country since the Joseon era. A significant part of the country's white porcelain was produced here. History

In the year 370, Gwangju (then called Hanam Vireson) became the capital of the ancient kingdom of Baekje and remained it for 376 years. In 940 it received a modern name. In 1577, Gwangju received administrative status of “bu” and included 23 districts. County status (kun or gun) was obtained in 1907. In 1626, Fort Namhanson was built in the city. Economics
