East Ayrshire [1] ( Eng. East Ayrshire , Gaelic. Siorrachd Inbhir Àir an Ear ) is one of Scotland 's 32 counties. Borders on the counties of North Ayrshire , South Ayrshire , Dumfries and Galloway , South Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire . The district was formed in 1996 as a result of the merger of the regions of Kilmarnock and Laudun and Kamnok and Dun Valley .
