History
In 1936 GOLIFK became the winner of the Leningrad winter championship [1] .
A year later, GOLIFK, like 5 other Leningrad teams [2] , took part in the first USSR basketball championship among club teams (previously the championship was played among national cities) [3] . In the 1938 championship, GOLIFK shared 2-3 places with the Moscow Lokomotiv [4] . In the 1939 season, the team took 2nd place, losing only to the metropolitan Lokomotiv and ahead of Lokomotiv ( Tbilisi ), Moscow and Tbilisi Dynamo , TsDKA and last season champion, Leningrad Petrel [3] .
The team of the Institute of Physical Education was supposed to take part in the 1940 championship, but at the last moment, by decision of the All-Union Committee of Physical Education, it was replaced by Spartak [2] . After the war, the team did not participate in the USSR championships [4] .
