With the commissioning of a station designed to repair and replace steam locomotives on the Aleksandrovskaya railway , the history of the city of Baranavichy began : by the mid-1880s, the village around the station consisted of about 1,500 inhabitants.
The first freight-passenger train through the station of the 3rd class proceeded on November 16 (28), 1871 .
The first station building has not been preserved to this day; a new station was built in its place.
In 1884, the Vilna-Rivne railway was completed, connecting this area with the Baltic states and Ukraine, turning Baranavichy into a railway junction, which has two stations, today known as Baranovichi-Tsentralny and Baranovichi-Polesie .
