The city of Faleria was part of the union of the twelve cities of Etruria, although its population was mixed: Umbras and Sabinians lived here. The inhabitants of Falisii - the Falis - differed from the Etruscans in their reprimand. The Falicians fought a long battle with the Romans; peace was made under Camille .
In the 240s BC e. during the first Punic War, the Falis took part in the general rebellion of the Etruscans and suffered a complete defeat: the city was abandoned, the Romans forced in 241 BC. e. to settle the inhabitants of Falerii-Veteres in Falerii Novi on the neighboring plain ( Aequum Faliscum ) [1] . Later, the city was re-inhabited under the name Colonia Etrascorum Falisca .
Faleria was famous for its thin linen fabrics, a beautiful breed of bulls and the production of a special sort of sausages ( venter Faliscus ) [2] .
