History

On September 6, 1991, the Supreme Council of the PMR adopted a resolution β€œOn measures to protect the sovereignty and independence of the republic,” according to which the formation of the Armed Forces began. The first formation was the formation of the Republican Guard . In the first armed clash, the Transdniestrian Moldavian Guard participated on December 13, 1991, in repelling an attack by Moldovan troops on the city of Dubossary . By the end of 1991, the organizational formation of the Transnistrian armed forces was generally completed.

Shortly after the beginning of a large-scale conflict , on March 17, 1992, the People’s Militia was created (it still exists).

After the armed conflict with Moldova , on September 3, 1992, the Concept for the construction of the Armed Forces of Transnistria was approved, according to which by the end of 1992 the main structures of the Ministry of Defense, the new organizational structure, formations , units and subunits were formed , a combat and mobilization plan was developed readiness.

On March 14, 1993, the personnel of the Armed Forces took the military oath.

Current State

The armed forces of Transnistria consist of motorized rifle, air, artillery, anti-aircraft formations and units, special and rear support troops, as a reserve - the structure of the People’s Militia.

There is a universal military duty in the PMR, the term of fixed-term service is 1 year. Passed urgent service form a reserve. In addition, part of the military serves under the contract. The total number of troops of the PMR is 15 thousand people. In the case of the outbreak of hostilities, the number can be quickly increased to 80 thousand people [1] .

Structure

The largest formation in the Transdniestrian Supreme Soviet is the brigade , the smallest is the detachment . The department includes 10 people. Three compartments are part of the platoon . In platoon 32 people. Three platoons are part of the company . 4 companies, a mortar battery and separate units (platoons) are part of the battalion .

There are 4 motorized rifle brigades located in the Tiraspol , Bendery , Dubossary and Rybnitsa townships in the Armed Forces of the MRT, of which one is guards (deployed in the Bendery region). Four special purpose battalions. [3]

Military education

The replenishment of the officers of the Armed Forces of the Pridnestrovskaia Moldavskaia Respublika takes place at the expense of training at the Military Institute of the Ministry of Defense . There are also Training Courses for Military Specialists who are trained by warrant officers and foremen. A huge contribution to the development and formation of military education in Transnistria was laid by the founder and leader of the Military Department at PSU named after T. G. Shevchenko, subsequently being the first head of the Military Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the PMR, Colonel Mamrukov Nikolai Petrovich. He developed the basic regulations and guidance documents for military educational institutions of the PMR. Under his leadership, in 2002, the POISK research laboratory was created, the teams of which dealt with issues of state security. Eliminated in 2018 by the Minister of Defense of the PMR, Major General Obruchkov.
