Vasnetsov, Andrey Vladimirovich

From childhood he was engaged in art studios. He continued his artistic studies at the Moscow House of Pioneers. During the Great Patriotic War he was drafted into the Red Army . Since November 1942, in the military units of the Bryansk Front . He served in the units of the 48th army, first as an ordinary, later as a sergeant and battalion commissar. Passed with fights from Oryol to Konigsberg . He was awarded the order and medals.

In August 1945, after the end of the war, in the ranks of a special division of artists, he took part in the creation of the exhibition “Combat Path of the 3rd Belorussian Front” under the guidance of the famous Moscow artist Andrei Dmitrievich Goncharov .

In 1946, after being demobilized , he entered the faculty of monumental painting at the Moscow Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts . Among Vasnetsov's teachers were such artists as A. A. Deineka , A. D. Goncharov, P. P. Sokolov-Skalya . In 1953, Andrei Vasnetsov defended his diploma with honors at the Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial School named after Mukhina

Member of the Union of Artists since 1956.

Since 1975, Vasnetsov has been teaching at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute , where in 1980 he became the head of the department of drawing, painting and composition. Since 1986 - professor at this institute.

He is also actively involved in social activities. From 1983 A.V. Vasnetsov was secretary of the board, and from 1988 to 1992 he was chairman of the board of the Union of Artists of the USSR . He was elected a deputy of the 1st Congress of People's Deputies of the USSR

Full member of the Russian Academy of Arts (1992), since 1998 - member of the Presidium. He was the honorary chairman of the Vasnetsov Foundation.

He died on December 6, 2009 in Moscow at the 86th year of his life after a long serious illness. After the funeral, he was buried at the Vvedensky cemetery in Moscow ^[1] .

Andrey Vasnetsov was born in a creative family. His grandfather Viktor Vasnetsov is an outstanding Russian artist, a master of painting on historical and folklore subjects. Cousin Grandfather Apollinarius Vasnetsov is also a Russian artist , master of historical painting, art critic .

Father, Vladimir Viktorovich Vasnetsov (1889-1953) - professor at Moscow University. Mother Nadezhda Petrovna (1886-1951) is a teacher. Brother Yuri died in 1941 during the defense of Kalinin .

Wife, Irina Ivanovna Vasnetsova (Anisimova) (b. 1927) is also an artist, member of the Union of Artists since 1959, works in the field of decorative and monumental sculpture and easel portrait, winner of the Lenin Komsomol Prize. The son, Fedor Andreevich Vasnetsov (1959-1995) - a member of the Union of Artists since 1989, a participant in All-Union and Moscow art exhibitions, in 1995 in Moscow held a personal exhibition.

• sgraffito “Moscow and Warsaw” in the lobby of the Warsaw Hotel in Moscow (co-authored with V. Elkonin, 1960),
• murals “Science” and “Sport” at the ends of the facade of the House of Culture in Penza (co-authored with V. Elkonin, 1961),
• sgraffito in the halls of the Druzhba cafe in Moscow (co-authored with V. Elkonin, 1961),
• the relief "Music" on the facade of the concert hall of the Palace of Pioneers on the Lenin Hills in Moscow (co-authored by Yu. Alexandrov, I. Alexandrova, T. Sokolova and V. Elkonin, 1961-1962),
• Mosaic “Sea bottom” and relief on the facade of the swimming pool of the DOSAAF flying club in Moscow (co-authored by Yu. Alexandrov, I. Vasnetsova, V. Elkonin, 1962),

He led the restoration work of the Varvara Church in Togliatti .

Andrei Vasnetsov has been exhibited at youth exhibitions on the Kuznetsk bridge since 1954. Repeatedly participated in all-Union, republican, zonal, Moscow and foreign exhibitions (in Germany , Bulgaria , Japan , the USA , etc.). In 1987, the first personal exhibition was held in the Moscow House of Artists.
