Fighter

From 1993 to 1996, he studied at the Higher Professional School of Builders in Minsk (carpenter, woodworker, woodworker).

In 1996, he received the specialty of a martial arts trainer at the Belarusian State Institute of Physical Culture. In 1998 he became a master of sports of international class. He received his first higher education at the International Humanitarian and Economic Non-State Institute of the Republic of Belarus (psychologist-historian). From 2012 to 2016 he studied at the Moscow Financial and Industrial University "Synergy" (sports management).

Since 1992, Ignashov was engaged in enhanced physical training in various sports sections.

In 1994, he began to practice Thai boxing (Muay Thai) at the Shintyao Sports Club. The first trainer is Igor Borisovich Garadilov (SK “Sintyao”). In 1998, Ignashov came to the legendary coach Andrei Sergeyevich Gridin (IC “Chinuk”). “At age 14, I realized that I want to be strong both physically and spiritually. In my current understanding, I lived then not quite correctly. Of course, I did not think that I would become a champion. I just wanted to be a strong and good guy, so I started to train. At the age of 16, I saw a Thai boxing lesson conducted by Andrei Gridin. In my opinion, he is the “father” and founder of Thai boxing in Belarus. I really liked this fight. ”

For the first time Ignashov entered the world arena in 1998. In July 1999, he won the world title in Thailand in the prestigious WMC version in a fight with the Swede Jörgen Krut. In October of that year, Ignashov fought the legendary Rob Kaman in his farewell match. The decision of the judges went to the Dutchman, although Rob himself raised Ignashov’s hand after the fight.

In 2000, burst into the most prestigious world league of boxing - K-1. Ignashov won the qualifying tournament in Minsk, defeating Ukrainian Sergey Arkhipov in the final. At the next stage of the selection in Yokohama, Alexey lost to the more experienced Englishman Matt Skelton.

Nevertheless, Ignashov was able to gain a foothold at the world level and in 2001-2004 he firmly entered the top ten best heavyweights of the planet. During this period, he defeated such famous fighters as Nicholas Pettas, Bjorn Bregg, Peter Arts, Mike Bernardo, King Arthur Williams, and others. The first to knock out Semmy Schilt and Badra Hari. During his speeches at K-1, Alexey twice entered the final "eight" of the world grand prix, becoming a semifinalist in 2001 and a quarter-finalist in 2003 (this year he was considered the main favorite after the triumph at the qualifying tournament in Paris).

In 2005, Ignashov injured his knee in a fight against Bjorn Braggie and he had some decline in his performances in the ring. From 2006 to 2011, Alexey lived and trained in New Zealand and represented the Balmoral LiGar club under the guidance of coach Lolo Hamuli. In 2009-2010, Ignashov returned to the big ring for fights with the strongest fighters Sammy Schilt and Badr Hari (both of them won in previous years). This time Alex lost.

After a difficult life period, when alcohol appeared in his life, Alexei became a very religious person - he often goes to church and attends a monastery on Mount Athos. In his homeland in Belarus, Ignashov is friends with the rector of the church in the village of Bolshoy Stickilovo near Minsk. There, in the military-patriotic camp, he gives hand-to-hand combat lessons for teenagers [1] .

Alexei spent his last fight at the age of 40 with Bosnian Jivad Poturak at the Bellator 196 tournament in Hungary and won by a decision of the judges [2] .

Specialists of the martial arts world note that Alex is an incredibly emotionally stable athlete. The former psychologist of the Chinook club, where Ignashov trained, described his emotional state at the moment when the whole team was nervous before the fight, as absolutely balanced: I walk and get nervous, and he sits, picks his nose: Now I’ll go beat, then I’ll go something else- I'll do something. " [3]

At the peak of his career, Alex held ten professional fights per year, which is considered a very high result. The legendary Peter Aerts , as Ignashov himself admitted, called him crazy for this.

Of the famous representatives of the world of martial arts, at one time or another, Alexei trained with Sam Greco, Sergey Kharitonov, the Gracie brothers, Zabit Samedov , Bob Sapp , Alexander Ustinov, all black rugby players and others.

During his appearances at K-1 tournaments in Japan, Ignashov was incredibly popular among fans - especially women. One day after the tournament, a tragedy almost happened - the fans stuck around Alexei and began to tear his clothes into pieces, and the girls began to try to touch his body parts. One of the Japanese women was waiting for him at the hotel with a hotplate and cooked him borsch. Another fan specially came to live in Belarus, studied Russian for six months in the hope of meeting Alexei. But at that time he already lived in New Zealand. According to polls by the Japanese public, Alexey’s popularity was second only to Peter Aertss’s popularity.

Now, in addition to training, Alexey plays water polo [4] .

“Scorpio” is especially known for knee kicks that it used in knockouts with Nicholas Pettas and Carter Williams.

Currently lives and trains in Moscow, in the sports club of the University of Synergy (Red Scorpion team). Trainers - Andrey Sergeyevich Gridin and Anatoly Ivanovich Lis.
