Biography

Comes from the noble family of the Rzhevskys , Nikolai Nikolayevich Rzhevsky ’s grandfather was the deputy chief of the North-West Oil District of the Nobel Brothers Company, in 1937 he was repressed.

Born December 16, 1939 in Leningrad in the family of employees of Chekulaev Nikolai Mikhailovich and Rzhevskaya-Molchanovskaya Zlata Nikolaevna. In 1941 he was evacuated to the city of Staliniri , in the middle of 1943 he joined the army with his sister, went along with the 65th separate anti-aircraft artillery battalion , where his mother served, from Luban to Tartu , while not being the official son of the regiment.

In 1957 he graduated from secondary school No. 32 of the Vasileostrovsky district of the city of Leningrad , in 1963, the Leningrad Mining Institute received the specialty "mining engineer-geophysicist."

Scientific activity

He worked at the Arctic Geology Research Institute in Leningrad , where he took an active part, and then led many years of work under the World Gravimetric Survey (MGS) program as part of the Polar Geophysical Expedition (PGE). He was a member of many hundreds of primary drift ice landings.

In 1967, he prepared an essay for passing candidate exams on the topic “The geological form of the motion of matter,” and was seconded to Iran to conduct an aeromagnetic survey of possible iron ore deposits. At the end of the trip, he worked for a year at the Special Design Bureau of the USSR Ministry of Geology, dealing with the specific task of developing technologies for the search for submarines by aeromagnetic methods. During the work registered two inventions.

Then he continued his work at the Research Institute of Geology of the Arctic , led the geophysical party, performed the first aeromagnetic and marine gravimetric studies of the Bering Sea .

In 1979 he defended his thesis on "The deep structure of the bottom of the northwestern part of the Bering Sea according to geophysical data."

Later he took part in marine geological and geophysical research in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, in 1984 he was appointed head of the Polar Marine Exploration Expedition. This expedition carried out basic geophysical and geological research in Antarctica , conducted large-scale geophysical research in the Arctic and actively developed international work to find a new type of raw material in the World Ocean - ferromanganese nodules and polymetallic sulfides.

In 1986, he transferred to scientific work at the VNIIOkeangeologiya , and then to the new research and production organization Sevmorgeo created on the basis of the geophysical departments of the VNIIOkeangeologiya as deputy director for scientific work. He was mainly engaged in three scientific issues.

Under the scientific guidance of Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences V. Strakhov, he worked on the development of the most rational, scientific methods for using the results of World Gravimetric Survey, which culminated in the creation of the MGS-Heritage Program. The methodological principles of the analysis of geological and geophysical information laid down in the Program, which were later set forth in a number of articles are of practical interest in the analysis of geological and geophysical information for geological purposes (For example: “The scientific heritage of the program“ World gravimetric survey ”and the study of ocean tectonics. J.“ Exploration and subsoil protection. ”No. 3, M., 1997;“ Geological and Geophysical Heritage of Russia ”, Almanac“ Neftegaz ”, Tyumen, 2008, etc.)

He was also involved in the development of new technologies for the metrological support of marine gravimetric works, as a result of which a concept and a program for creating a specialized gravimetric vessel were developed.

He participated in the development of technology for creating density models of the oceanic crust, within the framework of which, with his participation, an Atlas of density models of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans was created, and the article “Comparison of the Admittance Functions of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and the Pacific Rise” was prepared (Geophysics, No. 3, 1995) and several reports were made, the main theme of which was to establish the fact of the presence in the subcrustal substance (in the upper mantle of the Earth) of density horizons of a complex configuration, which had to be taken into account when creating physic -geological models of the cortex.

Since 1992, he is a corresponding member of the Metrological Academy, Honorary Polar Explorer, candidate of geological and mineralogical sciences, has 77 scientific papers.

Writing

Since the early 2000s, he has been engaged in writing. The books were written mainly based on the memories of the first ice and sea expeditions and under the influence of impressions received during the election campaign. The following works were published:

  • "A simple story." Book of stories. Publishing House "Neva Journal", St. Petersburg, 2005.
  • The story "Fool's Day." The journal "Neva", No. 3, 2005.
  • "Stories and essays." Publishing and printing center "Neva Journal", St. Petersburg, 2007

Since 2005, a member of the International Federation of Russian Writers.

Other

In 1999, the Public movement Industry of St. Petersburg and the Association of Geological Organizations of St. Petersburg was nominated as a candidate for the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg .

Currently lives in St. Petersburg , continues to pursue scientific and writing activities, has prepared an essay "The Theory of Human Relativity"
