NAVAPA

NAVAPA ( eng.North American Water and Power Alliance , NAWAPA) - An unrealized project to transfer water from the rivers of Alaska and the north-west of Canada to the south to supply the arid regions of Canada , the USA and Mexico .

The project was developed in the 1950s by the United States Army Corps of Engineers , but was subsequently abandoned.

To transfer water, it was planned to build a large number of canals, aqueducts and tunnels; powerful hydroelectric power stations were designed on the way of these artificial water flows. The project also included a number of shipping channels not related to water supply.
