Story
The film tells about the uprising of peasants against the landlords. The prosperous peasant Droidze wants to seize the land belonging to the widow of Babala. To fulfill this plan, he accuses Simon, the son of Babale, in falsifying land ownership documents. Simon is being arrested. The son and mother are evicted from their own home and sentenced to exile in the North. The son of the rich Droidze is trying to rape Dariko, Simon’s wife. In the struggle for her honor, a woman kills a rapist. Dariko leaves the village and finds refuge in the forest, along with a group of armed peasants who protect the locals from Cossack raids. Simon, who escapes from prison, joins his wife.
