Content
History
In 1966, the Caribbean and Central American Volleyball Zone was organized in San Juan ( Puerto Rico ) during the X Central American and Caribbean Games. In 1968, it was transformed into the NORCECA Volleyball Confederation after the accession of the United States and Canada . She was entrusted with the organization and development of volleyball in the countries of North , Central America and the Caribbean . R. Acosta Hernandez ( Mexico ) was elected the first president of the new volleyball confederation, who held this post until his election as president of the FIVB in 1984 . NORCECA included the national federations of 15 countries of the North American continent and the Caribbean, which at that time were members of the FIVB . Among them is one of the founders of the US FIVB.
The first international tournament at the level of men's teams in the region was held in 1930 in Havana ( Cuba ) as part of the II Central American and Caribbean Games. In 1938, the first similar tournament of women's teams during the IV games was held in Panama .
In 1955, the first volleyball tournament was held in Mexico City ( Mexico ) as part of the II Pan American Games among men's and women's national teams.
In 1969, in Mexico City, NORCECA held the first NORCECA volleyball championship among men's and women's national teams.
Since 1998, NORCECA volleyball championships have been held among youth and junior teams.
In addition, the America ’s Cup among men's teams (since 1998), the Final Four Cup among women's teams (since 2008), the Pan American Cup among men's (since 2006) and women's (since 2002) national teams are held in conjunction with the South American Volleyball Confederation (CSV) teams.

NORCECA Structure
The highest organ of the Confederation of Volleyball of North, Central America and the Caribbean is the Congress , which takes place every two years.
To solve the tasks set by Congress before NORCECA, as well as the statutory requirements, the delegates of the assembly elect the Governing Body . He meets at least once a year. From among its members, the Governing Body elects an Executive Committee , which implements the decisions of Congress and organizes the daily activities of NORCECA. It is led by the President of the NORCECA Volleyball Confederation.
To solve the special tasks facing NORCECA, permanent technical commissions have been created in its structure: sports-organizational, technical and coaching, financial, medical, press, marketing, refereeing, beach volleyball.
There are also four regional associations within the NORCECA Volleyball Confederation: Central Zone Volleyball Association (CZVA), Association of Central American Volleyball Federations (AFECAVOL), Caribbean Zone Volleyball Association (CAZOVA), East Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA).

- NORCECA Volleyball Championships - Once every two years on odd years
- NORCECA Youth Championships once every two years for even years
- NORCECA Junior Teams Championships - Once every two years for even years
- Qualification tournaments for Olympic volleyball tournaments , world championships among national teams and world championships among youth teams
- Men's American Volleyball Cup - Annually (shared with CSV)
- Final Four Cup for Women's Volleyball - annually (in conjunction with CSV)

- ↑ In 2010, the Netherlands Antilles Federation was disbanded. In 2009, associates of NORCECA became the members of the Federation of Curacao, Bonaire, Saba, Sint Maarten and Sint Eustatius. The Netherlands Antilles Volleyball Union still has membership in the FIVB and NORCECA.
