Ballynahinch [1] ( English Ballynahinch , Irl. Baile na hInse ) is a town in County Down , Northern Ireland , one of the three largest cities in the territory of the District Council Down (2 others - Newcastle and Downpatrick ).

The city is located on the A24 ( Belfast - Newcastle) highway 15 miles south of Belfast.
Content
History
Ballinahinch was founded by Sir John Rowdon in the 1600s and remained a family property until the Irish Uprising of 1798 . Ballinakhinchskaya battle led to the elimination of the movement " United Irish ", created in 1791 with the aim to achieve independence from Britain .
Demographics
The statistical and research agency of Northern Ireland, Ballynahinch, is classified as a “small town” ( eng. Small Town - population from 4,500 to 10,000 people). On the day of the census ( April 29, 2001 ), 5,364 people lived in the city. Among them:
- 22.4% are under the age of 16, 17.0% - 60 and more;
- 48.3% are men and 51.7% are women;
- 31.3% are Catholics and 65.4% are Protestants;
- 3.7% of residents aged 16 to 74 years are unemployed.
