The Club of Famous Captains is a popular multiseries radio play for children, released in the USSR from December 1945 until the early 1980s . The characters of the play were heroes of popular adventure books. The first issue was aired on December 31, 1945; Vasily Kachalov (as the Old Year) took part in this issue of the show.

Transfer, as a rule, had the appearance of meetings of the club. Most of the performances began with a brief dialogue of librarians Maria Petrovna and Katyusha, preparing to close the library. After the library was closed, famous captains went off the pages of books and elected a chairman. In a simple and fascinating form, they talked about travels and expeditions (both real and fictional), about life in foreign countries, reported interesting information from the field of geography, zoology and botany. The subject of the program was most often associated with the sea - although there were exceptions. Baron Munchhausen told "true" stories, full of mistakes and absurdities. In addition to the captains, other literary heroes often appeared. The meeting ended with a rooster crowing, after which the heroes hurried back to their books.
The program participants were asked to answer questions, participate in contests, quizzes on the maritime theme. The most successful responses were read on the radio live, and their authors were encouraged by the signs "Scarlet Pennant" or "Blue Pennant". For exposing errors in the stories of Munchhausen and Tartarin relied sign "Golden Rooster".
At one time, the “BIO” worked at the Club - the Bureau of Inventions and Discoveries: the guys were invited to send all kinds of projects of fantastic inventions to it.
In the 1990s, a similar radio program “Full Forward!” (Another name, “Golden Doe Tavern”) came out on Radio Russia; one story from the history of navigation (for example, shipwreck, pirate, traveler). There were no musical numbers in the program.

The role of librarian Maria Petrovna was played by Sofia Galperina , her assistants Katyusha - Natalia Lvova.
In addition to the regularly appearing characters, episodically featured many other literary characters.
Two novels were written about the adventures of famous captains united in a radio play (the authors, Vladimir Kreps and Klimenty Mintz , published in 1974 and 1977, are a reprint). At different times there were also books with texts of selected performances. Some early broadcasts were published on audio cassettes and MP3 discs.
