Disuk ( Arabic: دسوق ) is a city in Egypt , in the mid-north of the Nile Delta , 80 km southeast of Alexandria . It is located on the border with the governorates of Buheira , Alexandria , Garbia and Kafr al-Sheikh , the center of the region in which it is. The population is 106 827 inhabitants ( 2006 ).

History
At one time, Disuk (which at that time was called Puto) was the capital of the Hyksos , a people who came to Ancient Egypt from Asia Minor . The first pharaoh of the XVIII dynasty Yakhmos I about 1550 BC. e. expelled the Hyksos from Egypt and pursued to southern Palestine . Disuk is the hometown of the Muslim saint Ibrahim ad-Disuki , who lived in the XII century.
Disuk District
The area covers an area of about 300 km², which is approximately 7.9% of the total area of the governorship. As of December 31, 2003, its population was 431 112 inhabitants.
