Biography

Ivan Aivazov was born in the family of a sailor, in the city of Mariupol, Yekaterinoslav Province .

He studied at the Ekaterinoslav Theological Seminary . In 1898 he graduated from the Kazan Theological Academy with the degree of candidate of theology .

From 1899 to 1912 he served as a diocesan missionary in the Tambov , Yekaterinoslav and Kharkiv eparchies. In 1912 he received the title of Master of Theology . He taught at the Moscow and St. Petersburg Theological Academies .

He took an active part in the monarchist movement, was a member of the Russian Assembly , spoke with reports of religious and socio-political content. He was one of the closest associates of Archpriest John Vostorgov , was in the reign of the Brotherhood of the Resurrection of Christ . Participated in the organization and activities of monarchist congresses , such as the “Fourth All-Russian Congress of the United Russian People”, the “First All-Russian Congress of Representatives of the Union of the Right Press”, the “Russian People's Congress” (1909), the Petrograd Monarchist Conference.

He worked as an editor and employee of the magazine " Voice of the Church ", also collaborated with the magazines " edifying reading ", " Missionary Review ", " Missionary anti-Muslim collection ", " Church Bulletin ", "Faith and Reason", "Voice of Truth". He wrote many publications and essays on missions and denunciations of sectarians ( Khlysty , Dukhobors , Molokans , Baptists and others).

In 1918 he was appointed missionary preacher of the Moscow Diocese . He was arrested several times, in 1928 he was sent to Yoshkar-Ola for three years with confiscation of the library.

In 1933 he settled in Pavlograd , in the 40s and 50s published in the Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate .

He died on December 17, 1964 in the city of Pavlograd, Dnepropetrovsk region .

On October 10, 1995, he was rehabilitated by the prosecutor's office of Leningrad [1] .
