Biography
In 1969, after graduating from school, he entered the Tashkent Higher Combined Arms Command School . He was later transferred to the Alma-Ata Higher Combined Arms Command School , which he graduated in 1973.
He completed all positions from platoon commander to army corps commander .
He began his officer service as a platoon commander in the 186th motorized rifle regiment of the 68th motorized rifle Novgorod Red Banner Division , stationed in Almaty , which was introduced to Afghanistan in December 1979 .
From 1979 to 1982 - as part of OKSVA, he held the position of company commander in the 186th motorized rifle regiment of the 108th motorized rifle division , later served as chief of staff and battalion commander in the 66th separate motorized rifle brigade .
1981-1985 - student of the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze .
From 1985 to 1992 - deputy commander, and later the commander of the 64th motorized rifle Slutsk-Pomeranian Red Banner Order of the Suvorov and Kutuzov Regiment of the 35th Krasnograd Red Banner Motorized Rifle Division as part of the GSVG [1] .

Since November 1997 - Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.
Acted as Minister of Defense after the resignation of Mukhtar Altynbaev on August 9, 1999, until October 13, 1999.
From 2000 to January 2002 - commander of the Eastern Military District.
In January-September 2002, he was the head of the Military Academy of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Since 2007 - Inspector General of the Military Inspectorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Since January 2012 - Member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the 5th convocation from the People's Democratic Party "Nur Otan".
Prosecution
In 2000, he was brought to trial in the case of the illegal sale of Kazakhstani MiG-21 fighters to the DPRK. [3]
