On February 3, 2009, Hungarian television reported that out of 105 songs sent to the contest, “If You Wanna Party” was chosen by Mark Zentai. [1] [2] However, it soon became clear that this song, entitled “We Became Friends”, was published already in 2004 [3] [4] , and, moreover, was used in the Swedish version of the television program “Big Brother”. After the publication of this information, Zentai refused to participate further, and Wenger television was forced to choose another song [4] [5] .
On February 4, Hungarian television announced that actress Katya Tomposh will represent Hungary at the competition with the song "Magányos csónak" ("Lonely Boat") [6] [7] . However, a professional association of popular music composers appealed this decision, pointing out that there was insufficient time to select a worthy candidate and that the choice was made without public participation. Hungarian television nevertheless insisted on the participation of Tomposh, indicating that the professional jury had been selecting the candidate throughout the day [8] .
On February 10, Tomposh announced her refusal to participate in the competition, saying that she prefers to concentrate on the theater career, and that participation in eight productions in three different theaters will not allow her to adequately prepare. The jury of Hungarian television was again forced to look for an artist [9] . On February 23, the jury selected Zoli Adok with the song “Dance with me” (Dance with Me) [1] .
Competition
Hungary was the eleventh in the second semifinal and received 16 points (8 from Azerbaijan , 3 from Spain and Albania and 2 from Slovakia ), taking 15th place in the end and not reaching the final.
