Soldier-Aleksandrovskoe

Soldat-Aleksandrovskoye is a village [2] in the Sovetsky district (urban district) of the Stavropol Territory of the Russian Federation . It was the administrative center of the municipality "Rural Settlement of the Soldier-Aleksandrovsky Village Council " (abolished on May 1, 2017 [3] ).

Geography

The village is located on the right bank of the Kuma River. Distance to the regional center : 265 km. Distance to the district center : 19 km.

The Kuma railway station on the Georgievsk line (24 km) - Budennovsk is located in the village of Zheleznodorozhny , 4 km west of the village center.

History

The village was founded during the reign of Catherine II the Great in the last quarter of the 18th century (October 1778 ) by retired soldiers of the Russian army and exiled criminals, this is one of the first Russian settlements in the region . A settlement was born on the elevated bank (jura) of the Kuma River, hence the name of one of the village's districts - Yurushka [4] . It was originally conceived as a checkpoint on the border with Chechnya, subsequently populated by Cossacks .
