History

The club was founded in 1931 under the name "Sakaryaspor" and represented the province of Sakarya . In the 30s, the club successfully performed at the regional level, but during the Second World War the club ceased to exist. In 1946, the team was formed again. In 1965, Sakaryaspor moved to Manisa and changed his name to Manisaspor. After the move, the team with varying success played in the First League , flying out to the second one several times, and the 1983–84 season spent Manisaspor at the amateur level. This situation continued until the beginning of the XXI century. In 2001, the club, serving at that time in the second Turkish league , signed a sponsorship contract with Turkey's largest company, Zorlu Holding , and changed its name to Vestel Manisaspor. Thanks to the financial injections of the holding, the purchase of new players, as well as the support of fans of the club, Manisaspor was able to enter the Turkish Super League for four years. In the top division of Turkey, the team spent three seasons. In the 2007–2008 season, Manisaspor, with 29 points, took 16th place and flew into the First League. After a number of reasons, Zorlu Holding refused the sponsorship contract with the team, the club regained its old name, Manisaspor. In the 2008-2009 season, the club won first place in the First League and received the right to play in the Turkish Super League .
