In 1992, in the cave of Fumane ( it: Grotta di Fumane ) in a layer aged 41 110 - 38 500 years ( protoignac ), the rational human tooth ( Homo sapiens ) was discovered, the mitochondrial genome of which belongs to the haplogroup R * [1] .
In the Mousterian strata aged 44.8 - 42.2 thousand years, 660 bird bones belonging to 22 species were found. On the bones of four species of birds ( bearded , red-footed falcon , alpine jackdaw , and whirlwind ), scratches from stone tools were preserved [2] .
