At the end of the course at the University of Helsingfors, he was an assistant at the local observatory from 1869 to 1871 , and later was a junior observer in Bonn, where he participated in observations of zones until 1873 . From 1874 to 1876 he was a computer engineer in Pulkovo , and in 1876 he was appointed observer astronomer at Kiev University . Here he observed mainly near-polar stars; observations are published in the Annals of the Kiev Observatory. Fabricerus compiled formulas for the exact calculation of reductions to the middle position of the visible positions of stars close to the pole. Several theoretical works of Fabricius relate to the issue of determining the orbits of planets from three observations.
