Career
- In the late 1990s, he was the head of the Department of Credit Policy and Financial Markets of the Ministry of Economy of the Russian Federation .
- 1990 - expert advisor to the stock department of the Russian Investment Joint-Stock Company (RINACO). Since 1993 - head of the financial operations department of the company, financial director of RINACO. Subsequently, he held a number of leadership positions in Russian banks, such as: Vneshtorgbank , Rosgosstrakh , Roseximgarant and so on.
- 1996-1997 - Advisor to the Minister of Economy of the Russian Federation on finance and investment.
- 1997-2000 - Head of the Department of Credit Policy and Financial Markets of the Ministry of Economy of the Russian Federation.
- 2000-2002 - Deputy General Director of Russian Development Bank
- Since 2002 - Deputy General Director of the Russian division of Africa Israel Investments Ltd.
- Since 2007 he headed the Institute of Socio-Economic and Investment Design .
Politics and social activities
Leonid Baron at various times was a member of several expert councils of the State Duma . In the late 1990s, Advisor to the Chairman of the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on the socio-economic, financial and investment bloc, and a member of the Scientific and Expert Council under the Chairman of the Council of the Federation of the Russian Federation S. M. Mironov. Mironov’s companion in the “Party of Life” he created , where Leonid Baron was called the party’s “economic ideologist” [3] .
Leonid Baron was a member of the editorial boards of a number of economic journals “Financier” , “Finances of Russia” and “Industrial Policy in the Russian Federation” . Since 2007 - Member of the Board of Trustees of the Guild of Investment and Financial Analysts of Russia .
The circumstances of the death
On February 5, 2009, the body of Leonid Baron was discovered in his apartment on Osenny Boulevard in Moscow. Two gunshot wounds were found on the body of the deceased, as well as an injury in the head , allegedly received by him in the fall. A criminal case was opened on the fact of the intentional murder of the Moscow Main Department of Internal Affairs . The next day, two suspects were detained in the commission of this murder - a third-year student of Moscow State Pedagogical University Dmitry Medvedev (b. 1988), and a second-year student of the Academic International Institute, Ivan Novikov (b. 1989), later presented to them charges and a measure of restraint is chosen - detention . On February 6, the head of the Investigative Department of the UPC in Moscow, Anatoly Bagmet, announced that the murder had been solved without delay [4] . A preliminary inquiry established that the defendants killed Baron with the purpose of robbery . According to the investigation, the organizer of the murder was a student Novikov, whose girl lived next door to Leonid Baron. Novikov was entering the Baron's house, as he was carrying out his instructions for a small fee. Having taken a look at the rich decoration of the apartment, Novikov decided to rob him, and under the guise of a buyer of an Audi car, which the Baron intended to sell, he led his accomplice Medvedev to Leonid Baron. In the midst of a discussion of the purchase, one of the accused grabbed a Baikal pistol in advance and demanded that Baron give them all the money . The baron resisted, but the offender shot him three times in the chest. After that, the criminals stole documents for a car , 122 thousand rubles, a Piaget watch worth 499 thousand rubles, and disappeared [5] .
In August 2009, a trial was held that found the defendants guilty on all counts (murder, robbery, illegal acquisition, possession, carrying firearms and ammunition), and sentenced Novikov to 15 years, and Medvedev to 14 years in prison. [6] In addition, the court exacted 3 million rubles from Novikov, and 2 million rubles from Medvedev in favor of the mother of the murdered. [6]
