Petrovo is a village in the Safonovsky district of the Smolensk region of Russia . The population is 56 inhabitants ( 2007 ) [1] . It is located in the central part of the region, 1.5 km south-east of the city of Safonov , 9 km south of the Belarus highway M1 . 3.3 km northeast of the village is the Safonovo railway station on the Moscow - Minsk line . It is part of the Pushkin rural settlement.

History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in September 1941 , liberated in 1943 [2] .
