Scandal with Vladimir Menshov
At the 2007 prize, the famous director Vladimir Menshov , who was supposed to present the main prize to the film “ Bastards, ” refused to do so after seeing the name of the winning film [4] . When Vladimir opened the envelope and saw that the “Bastards” tape became the owner of the prize, he said that he did not intend to present the prize to a film defaming the honor of the country by throwing an envelope with the result of voting on the stage ” [5] [6] .
I was hoping it would blow - it didn’t. I would ask Pamela Anderson to give the prize for the best film to this film, which is rather vile and dishonoring my country. Unfortunately, I will not do this. Goodbye.
At the 2009 ceremony, MTV decided to establish the nomination "Best Soviet Film" to make peace with a famous director. The film “ Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears ” became a laureate [7] .
