Historical background
The Institute was founded in 1964 by Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 1208 of December 4, 1963. He was the scientific and technical center of Glavtyumenneftegaz, created to develop design solutions for the development of oil fields in the West Siberian region. In 1994, transformed into a joint stock company.
The first leaders and creators of the institute are Onik Arsenievich Mezhlumov and Yakov Mikhailovich Kagan .
It was conceived as a single integrated center for design and survey and research work to solve the problems of designing the oil production infrastructure that arose during the development of a new oil producing region.
By 1970, with 1,500 employees, the institute received the status of the general designer of MINTOPENERGO for the arrangement of oil fields in Western Siberia and the head organization of the industry for oilfield construction in the conditions of swamps and permafrost , power supply and electrical equipment for oil fields, and computer-aided design for the construction of oil fields .
At the peak of the institute's growth, the number of employees reached six thousand people (1985). On the basis of the divisions and branches of Giprotyumenneftegaz, all the branch oil institutes of the Tyumen Region were created - SibNIINP , NizhnevartovskNIPIneft, SurgutNIPIneft, TomskNIPIneft .
According to the institute’s projects, more than 200 fields (on January 1, 2008 - 213) were developed on the territory of the Russian Federation, including Samotlor , Fedorov, Mamontov and Priobsk .
By 1998, the Institute’s activities were expanded by entering the market for designing gas and gas condensate fields , oil and gas pipelines, and providing a range of additional engineering services.
Since 2000, Giprotyumenneftegaz holds annual, already international, conferences on information technology in design .
At the end of 2008, the institute was a company with a completed technological cycle, including a survey complex, design production, design department, author and technical supervision services, research units with a modern laboratory base.
