Career
When Yuri Larionov was a child, his family, together with his father, a military man, moved to Tashkent , Uzbekistan . There, the mother took the often ill Yuri to the skating rink in the figure skating section. Later, the family returned to Novosibirsk and Larionov continued his studies there. Then, he moved to Moscow and studied there for four years, but without much success. The coach offered to try pair skating in Perm . A year later, in the spring of 2005, Lyudmila Kalinina created a couple with Vera Bazarova. [3]
A pair of Vera Bazarova and Yuri Larionov won a silver medal at their first world junior championship (2007) and in the very first season in which they performed internationally. In addition, in the same season, they became second at the Junior Grand Prix stage in Taiwan and qualified for the final of the Junior Grand Prix, where they became seventh.
The season 2007-2008, the couple began with a victory at the junior Grand Prix stage in the UK and silver in Germany. Then they proved themselves very well, becoming the third at their first “adult” stage of the Skate America Grand Prix [4] . In the final of the Junior Grand Prix, they won a gold medal. They were considered one of the main contenders for gold of the upcoming junior world championship [3] . At the "adult" championship of Russia became the sixth. However, in January 2008 it turned out that in the samples taken from Yuri in November 2007 (three weeks before the Grand Prix finals), the banned drug furosemide was found [5] . Yuri explained that he used the drug one-time, to lose weight in anticipation of an important start. The executive committee of the Russian Figure Skating Federation on February 18, 2008 , after an investigation, expelled Yuri Larionov from the junior national team for his irresponsible attitude to taking medications and suspended him from participating in national and international competitions until the end of the 2007–2008 sports season [6] . On April 6, 2008, the ISU disciplinary commission decided to disqualify Yuri Larionov for a period of two years. The period of ineligibility began from the moment the control test “B” was opened - January 18, 2008 [7] . The victory in the final of the Junior Grand Prix was canceled, the skaters had to return the medals and prize. In the spring of 2009 , the ISU decided to reduce the period of disqualification by six months and allow the couple to participate in competitions starting July 18, 2009 [8] .
Having the opportunity to participate in competitions, the couple passed the selection for the Russian championship, taking first places at the stages of the Russian Cup in Samara and Perm [9] [10] , and also performed at the Rostelecom Cup Grand Prix stage where it became the fourth. At the national championship , in December 2009 , Bazarova and Larionov took third place and entered the national team at the European Championship , where they were fifth. According to the results of performances, they were included in the national team at the Olympic Games in Vancouver [11] . At their debut Olympics, they took 11th place and finished the season in 8th place of the World Cup .
The following season, the couple significantly improved their results. They selected the Grand Prix finals (having won silver medals in Japan and France ), where they became 5th, repeated last year's result at the national championship , won the bronze of the European Championship and became 5th at the World Championships .
In the summer of 2011, the couple, along with mentor Lyudmila Kalinina, moved from Perm to Saransk , where the best conditions for work and life were proposed [12] [13] . In February 2013, they parted with coach Lyudmila Kalinina and transferred to the group of Nina Moser. However, after the end of the 2014 World Cup in Japan , where athletes took only seventh place, Larionov decided not to compete with Bazarova anymore [14] .
Partner Change
Since May 2014, Larionov began performing with Estonian figure skater Natalya Zabiyako [15] .
Their couple made their debut in the Russian championship at the end of 2014, where they ended up in the middle of the table [16] . Everyone expected their performance in the final of the Cup of Russia in February 2015, but the couple withdrew from the competition. Later it turned out that Yuri was seriously ill and needed long-term treatment [17] .
In the summer of 2016 he got married. Son Elisha was born on December 17, 2016.
