History

It arose in 1897 in connection with the construction of the railway. The status of the working village - since 1934 .

The first settlement in the village was called Shigarka and was located at the site of the Selkup settlement. The census book of Tomsk Uyezd for 1701 contains information about Shigark (F. 214, Prince 1279). A resident of the village V.M. Ponomarev, whose family has lived in Yaya for many generations, claims that his great-grandfather Fedosey was born in Shigark in 1771. In the census of 1859, it was noted that 213 men and 145 women lived in Shigark. According to local historians, the current cemetery on the outskirts of the street. Zarechnaya has been used since 1600.

The second and largest settlement was Zharkovka, located on the high left bank of Yaya. It developed faster, and soon Shigarka became a part of it. For the first time in the list of populated areas of Tomsk province (Levoberegovaya St.). There were 358 inhabitants and 63 courtyards. All streets ran parallel to the river. By the standards of that time, Zharkovka was a large Siberian village. In 1861 a church was built, from that time Zharkovka became the village of Zharkovskoye. In 1893, 555 souls lived in it, there were 117 courtyards. Open two-year school.

In 1894, a railway bridge was built. To protect against erosion by spring flood, it was decided to strengthen the banks near the bridge with large stones in several layers. Today, this masonry looks unusual on a river with sandy banks. During the construction of the railway, gravel pits were opened in the village where the bus station, the stadium, Lake Anzherskoye and Karier Street are now located. Up to 400 people worked at its mining, serving a duty. They were taken out on horseback.

During the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway through the territory of the county in 1891-1895. one and a half kilometers from Zharkovsky, a Yaya crossing was arranged. The name, most likely, was given by builders for the name of the river.

In 1934, the leadership of the Anzhero-Sudzhensky City Council decided to form one working settlement on the site of settlements near the Yaya station. By resolution No. 1644 of July 22, 1934, the working village of Yaya was formed from the Yaya railway station, the territory of the timber mill and the village of Zharkovsky.

Etymology

Yaya River. In historical dictionaries there are two interpretations of the name of the river: 1. from the Mansi "I" - the river, 2. from the Turkic "yay" - summer pasture. From this we can conclude that Yaya means "river, where there are summer pastures." People lived on the banks of Yai already in the Neolithic , 5-6 thousand years ago. Hunters and fishermen lived here. Excavations by scientists at Tomsk University indicate , that there lived chum, Selkups, Tatars, who knew how to melt metal.
