The monument to those who died on October 20, 1982 at Luzhniki (the official name is Monument to those who died at the world’s stadiums ) is a monument in Moscow at the Luzhniki sports complex , not far from the B grandstand.

Raised to a decade from the day of the tragedy in the Luzhniki Stadium [1] . Authors: architect George Lunacharsky and sculptor Mikhail Skovorodin . The initiator of the creation of the monument is the Spartak fan club. The decision to create the monument was approved by Mayor Yu. M. Luzhkov .
Made by the Kaluga Sculpture Plant with donations from Spartak fans, Moschlebprodukt and Mosles provided some assistance. It was brought in two KAMAZ vehicles and was installed on October 22, 1992 on the day of the Cup match between Spartak and Liverpool ; Installation was carried out by two specialists and several Spartak fans for twelve hours (from six in the morning to six in the evening) [2] .
The dominant feature of the monument is the face of a grieving woman-mother against the background of the stands of the stadium in their tragic break and the stairs where the tragedy occurred. Fragments of the background are the place and date of the tragedy, the names of the victims. To give international significance to the monument, the inscription "The dead in the stadiums of the world" was made in four languages, on the outer surface are the names of cities in the world where the fans died in the stadiums - Brussels , Glasgow , Athens and others.
