The 92nd separate engineer-tank Svirsky Red Banner Order of Kutuzov and Bogdan Khmelnitsky Regiment is a military unit of the USSR Armed Forces in the Great Patriotic War .

History

The regiment was formed as a regular tank regiment on May 6, 1944 on the basis of the 431st separate tank battalion as part of the 7th Army .

As part of the army from May 6, 1944 to November 15, 1944 and from January 12, 1945 to May 9, 1945 [1] .

Since June 21, 1944 participates in the Svir-Petrozavodsk operation . Before the operation, it was this regiment that brought together 40 T-37A / 38 amphibious tanks remaining in the army and on the Leningrad Front , and during the operation these tanks were used for the last time during their existence. The regiment, during the crossing of the river, supported parts of the 99th Guards Rifle Division . He took his starting position 40-50 minutes before the end of the artillery bombardment and began crossing even before the end of the artillery bombardment under the guise of the 338th , 339th , 378th guards self-propelled artillery regiments. During the crossing, only 6 tanks were lost. On June 21, 1944 only tanks of this regiment were on the Svirsky bridgehead.

On July 4, 1944, together with the 275th OMBON, he arrived at the border of the Tulemayoki River, where the advance of the 4th Rifle Corps with the support of the 89th Tank Regiment stalled, and took part in crossing the river.

After the operation, he was assigned to the reserve, where he was reorganized into an engineer-tank regiment .

Arrived in Poland at the beginning of the Vistula-Oder operation, provided clearance for the army offensive strip from the Magnushevsky bridgehead in the area south and southwest of the city of Magnuszew . On January 31, 1945, the regiment marched on the Oder . In March 1945, it was fighting hard for Küstrin , on March 12, 1945 the city was taken, after which the regiment, before the start of the Berlin operation, conducted private operations and went to a given line.

By the beginning of the Berlin operation, the regiment had 20 tanks, including 15 T-34s equipped with trawls to destroy mines . Moving forward, the regiment entered the western outskirts of Berlin on April 21, 1945. The regiment was tasked to go to the area of ​​government agencies. The regiment led stubborn battles for the Policeman Presidium and the Gestapo building. The fighting ended on April 28, 1945 between the palace of William II and Alexanderplatz . At that time, the regiment had six tanks.
