Temple History
The Temple of the Life-Giving Trinity in the village of Kuyman was built in 1814 in the village of Kuyman. Currently, it has regional status according to the decree of the administration of the Lipetsk region dated February 27, 1992 No. 106.
The temple was destroyed in 1937 by the Bolsheviks. One of the last rectors of the church was the holy martyr Tikhon Ivanovich Arkhangelsky (arrested in the village of Kuyman on August 9, 1937 , shot on October 17, 1937).
In 1937, when the temple was looted, it was miraculously possible to save the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, painted in the Athos Monastery. S. E. Shushunov, together with his brother, hid the icon in his home. The most important shrine of the Trinity Church, the icon of the Savior, was also saved at the beginning of the 20th century by the Erkhov family. The icon was so large that it could not be squeezed through the doors or windows of the hut, so the shrine had to be cut off at the edges. The bell of the temple is irretrievably lost, since when it was removed from the bell tower, it fell and split.
From 1977 to 1980, the village had a tradition on the eve of the May holidays to hang a red flag at the very top of the church tower. In May 1980, this tower collapsed spontaneously.
With kolkolnii this temple can be seen seven surrounding churches.
In 2008, the restoration of the temple began. Father Nikolai Yeremeyev held a service in the church in the summer of 2008 on the occasion of the beginning of the restoration. That same summer a memorial plaque was opened on the wall of the temple with the inscription:
| The priest, Metropolitan of Moscow and Kolomna Vladimir, in the service of the Great Archdeacon Konstantin Rozov, performed the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity p. Kuiman in honor of the 50th anniversary of the holy dignity of Archpriest Vasily Zemlyakov. Holy Holy Martyr Vladimir Moth of God for us. Grateful laity. |
Currently, the church is being restored with donations from parishioners and just kind, caring people.
