Content
Story
Galya “laid eyes” on the telephone master Alexei Goncharov and often calls in the repair bureau, asking him to be sent. A mutual feeling arises between the young people, and Alexey introduces Galya to his “old people”, introducing her as his bride.
Serving regular customers, Alexey is confused: customers are afraid that he will “clean them”. Alexei is offended and refuses to work for them. Misunderstood by his superiors, he leaves work. Galya does not support him, and relations with her also give a crack.
Grandfather Gali - the repressed brigade commander of the Cheka-OGPU - after rehabilitation becomes a writer. He conducts a conversation with a guy and gives him to read his work. It describes the incident that happened to him in 1942 , when he and his comrades washed gold in Kolyma : they find a nugget weighing one and a half kilograms.
