During scheduled flights, the Mi-24 helicopter belonging to the Syzran Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots crashed (626 training helicopter regiment, military unit 93836). According to the assistant commander in chief of the Russian Air Force , the helicopter burned out, the crew died [1] .
At 12:15 Moscow time, the search team discovered a damaged and charred helicopter. All those on board were killed - the crew commander Ilya Kartashev of 2008, the pilot-instructor Sergey Safonov of 2002 and the flight technician Renat Khubeev. There is no destruction on earth. Mi-24 flights in Russia were suspended until further notice.
On the fact of the crash of the Mi-24 helicopter in the Saratov region, a criminal case was opened under article 351 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - violation of flight rules or preparation for them. Among the causes of the disaster considered are equipment failure and pilot error [2] .
During the investigation, it was found that the cause of the disaster was the fatigue destruction of the rotor blade lever, which was the result of poor-quality repairs carried out at the 12th aircraft repair plant in Khabarovsk. The Mi-24 was equipped with a used part intended for the Mi-8 helicopter.
In June 2013, the court found guilty of violating part 3 of article 266 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (poor-quality repair of a vehicle and the commissioning of a technically faulty vehicle by a person responsible for the technical condition of the vehicle, resulting in the death of two or more persons) of a former production unit the master of FSUE “12 Aircraft Repair Plant” Mark Volchkov and sentenced him to two years in prison with a sentence in a penal colony [3] .
In January 2014, the court also found guilty the chief engineer of the plant Vladimir Kapiychuk and the head of the plant's reliability group Yuri Verotchenko. The court sentence Kapiychuk and Verotchenko sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 4.5 years each. On the basis of the decision of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation dated 12/18/2013 “On the declaration of amnesty in connection with the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Russian Federation” Verotchenko was released from the appointed punishment, a colony settlement was appointed the place of serving the sentence Kapiychuk [4] .
